Great job! Done in short order too... It's always very heartening to see a successful project right before starting one of my own.

Update -

I've only covered around 50 miles but everythings running fine :)
The wilwood brakes are great, but still need another bleed in another 100 miles or so as the pedals a little low.
No leaks from the samco hoses, so need to refill with coolant now rather than tapwater.
Stiffy- not much to report on as i still need to replace the remainder of my exhaust as its got a big hole in it
Uprated clutch - need a little more revs than normal to prevent stalling but otherwise seems fine, and not too stiff on the pedal.
Quaife atb- have'nt tested it in anger yet, need some big run offs  suprisingly i can still spin the wheels in 2nd gear (uphill!) even with a blowing exhaust. Think i need some sticky front tyres or maybe some more pies inside me :?
AB gearcables/nylon gear linkage bushes- Seemed a little stiff, but compared them next to stefs and paulp's and seemed to be just the same. I know the purpose of the nylon bushes is to make it tighter, but it just seems a little too stiff to me.

Grin factor- :) :D :-D

Dico

I am currently removing my engine and getting ready to put in the new one.

Question: Did your car have AC? I am going through the removal steps and I am at the point that I have to remove my AC compressor (looks like a bitch!) Just wondering if you had to deal with this one, thanks.

Not Dico, but it is a bit tricky. You can reach the two mounting bolts easily enough from below/passengers side - I used a 3/8" breaker bar & socket to break them loose, then a rathet to speed things up. The upper has a metal stand-off bracket , loosen the inner bolt, remove the outer & you can wiggle it off the bottom bracket. I removed the downpipe & pulled it out that way, it made it pretty simple.

I'm off to powerflow on friday for a 2 1/2" system. On my enquiry visit the chap who will be fitting it was a bit doubtfull about fitting the requested flexi pipe where i wanted it and said 'i'll ave a go'
I said other folk had had it fitted there previously (between the stiffy and prongeron) But having thought about it i dont know for sure that anyone has, and maybe it was this photo that was telling me i had seen one fitted.

Plenty of room on this one as there is no stiffy flange.
Has anyone who has fitted the stiffy (and there aint many of us) had a flexi piece fitted. My man was talking about fitting it further back, behind the prongeron, but that not what i want. I was looking for a photo to show that it had beeen done, but could only find this one which isnt of any use really.

STEVO, have you had a flexi fitted?

Have a look at the first page of the Peco thread. I think their front pipe is exactly what you're looking for in terms of fitment position (even though it is a smaller dia).

When you go for yours, I would be very interested in seeing how much a 2 1/2" downpipe with the standard position flanges at each end would be (especially if they can incorporate a flexi bit in the middle). Any chance of getting a quote using the dimensions of your system?

Mine is likely to be a bit of a hotch-potch until then, with a Stiffy at the top, a 2" downpipe, and then a 2 1/4" main system. It would be nice to have the Stiffy going into a 2 1/2" downpipe and then reducing to 2 1/4" at the normal joining point.

Yeah, that's the one I was talking about, but hey Jay, where did you find that 2nd pic?
The front bit is EXACTLY what I'm looking for - and as a bonus it even dispenses with half of the pre-cat! 8)

Thats good but anyone got a pic of one installed on the car?
Might just slip him a tenner and tell him to persevere :)

Neil, think i'm right in saying theres only one flange (at the stiffy end), so the other end (male to female joint) would have to be reduced to 2 1/4" to fit your system.
Is that what you would like a quote on?
You really need the car there as its such a tight fit over the prongeron.

It will be interesting to see if there is any power gain after ditching the dreaded 'Squish'.
