So, with a very clean and polished car I set off to Catton Hall in South Derbyshire. It turns out that there was a classic car show being held there, which was useful, as I managed to get there for about 1pm, and the filming was not scheduled to start for my slot till about 4pm. Anyway, I found 'Usedcar Roadshow' stand, and introduced myself. Had a chat with some of the crew, and the presenters Penny Mallory (of Rally driving fame & Channel 4 Driven) and Jason Dawe (TV used car type bloke).

Ok, so the subject of the thread should really of been "Your Elan on TV" as I was not needed on camera, only the car - probably a good thing!

Had a wander round the car show, helped myself to complimentary drinks and food, and soon it was my car's time to be filmed. So, drove it onto the stand, and was asked to put the roof and windows down, then it was over to the camera men, crew, and presenters. Hopefully they will use some of the footage from the camera that was on the pole, as he spent a good 5-10 mins just moving the camera (an air cam to use its technical term) around all sorts of angles to get some pretty cool shots of the car.

The main filming with the presenters was done next, all in one take, and that was it really!

Oh, I must stress that I was not consulted for any of the technical aspects of the Elan, nor the buying tips, so I don't know who did the research, BUT apparently the Elan's chassis is galvanised, and it is mid engined!  :(

Anyway, the feature on the Elan (all 5 or so minutes) should be shown around the 29th May on 'The Used Car Roadshow' on Men & Motors.

Top marks Phil! :D

Shame the numpties had to give incorrect 'facts'. Think we should all write into the show and force them to make a correcting statement in a later show?

Pistonfest was excellent! Great cars, great people, fantastic drives and a fab band in the beer tent! The 2CV racing was wild viewing too.

Blipi was the only Elan there and generated plenty of interest, I still owe blips to people who asked! Scared the shyte out of one passenger with a rather nifty manoeuver. Blipi vs on coming tractor... OK ok, so her brakes were not going to stop me in time so I had to move into the other side of the road to face the tractor. This did allow me to overtake 2 of the pack in front and roar down the road looking like I did it on purpose! 8) Mwa ha ha haaarrrr!

Well, I will be getting a copy of the show from Daisybeck on DVD, so with a bit of editing I will be able to copy the bit with the Elan and maybe host it on some unused webspace... I did correct the guy after they had filmed,
:smt075 :chair:
and he seemed to think that they could 'edit' it, but I'm not holding out much hope that they will remember.

They also did not mention Lotuselancentral in the feature, so I hope it at least gets mentioned in the credits.

That was part of the deal...they had better bloody well mention it, or they'll be getting a visit from Aazer and his phosphorous calling cards!

I thoroughly enjoyed the Elan slot.

Sy, you'll be glad to know no mention of LEC and no retraction about the engine location.

I have video'd it. I just need to edit it to the useful bits of the program and I'll stick it in my webspace. Apart from the commentary, I'm pretty pleased with the camera work, and yes, the car was very clean 8) , and thankfully looks it.

I've cut the excess from the recording but I am left with a *.VOB file of 129MB, which is somewhat too big for my webspace. So, if any kind sole would like to convert it to mp4/avi and shrink it, I will gladly send the dvd.

Thanks

If you send me a copy of the DVD i can edit it and recompress it to something suitable for the LEC site. What is the copyright on the DVD, Sy might have to get permission to post it.
