Lotus Elan Central

Club Lotus has an official entry to this event but pre-booking (£15 on the day) is essential. We are going for 20 Lotus cars and trying to get at least one of each type. I'll be representing the M100 but there is room for another (BigErch, AB2CV, Stevo, Scott, Ronnie, RichP ... ???)

Cars need to be on the stand (as per Callander last year ie gazebo and flagpole etc...) at 08:30 so Bob suggests people probably try and go on the Sat evening, set up camp, get out the BBQ and the tinnies. Sounds like it might be a good do ??

Bob mentioned this event on Wednesday night and said that there were definitely spaces for 10 cars, with the potential for 20. I've pencilled it into my diary as a probably definitely, so if there are extra spaces available and we're allowed 2 M100s (Bob knows how us M100s end up stealing the show at these classic events of late :wink:

) then I'd be happy to put my car forward (unless an S2 is too modern to be a classic or there's any other takers?)

Alan,

I think Bob's putting in for the 20 and, if so, could accommodate 2 M100's.

I think Archie may be too busy on re-location, re-location buying up half of the Highlands to be at Knockhill, but then again, I could be wrong ?

I hadn't heard of this. What about people like me who might drive down on the day? Just park with the hoi polloi I suppose, and walk to the Club Lotus stand to see y'all?

As far as I know, the general public just pay their £15 (sounds a bit expensive to me ?) and get access to everything. If you want to get free access and flash off those shiny S2's and Wilwood brakes give BD a buzz

£15 is a bargain as there is a Spitfire flypast and the sound of a Rolls Royce Merlin is something else.

I think we'll be better organised than we were at Thirlestane Castle. A good day out but no official gazebo, flag etc.. Just half a dozen or so Elite's, Excel's and mine and BigErch's M100 with AB2CV's ribena mobile in the plebs car park

BigErch and AB2CV have both heard my PECO and were well impressed - along with half the town of Lauder when I was stuck in traffic for half an hour. It makes the Elan sound like a true sports car - not unlike the burble from say a TVR Griff or Chimaera

So impressed I bought one for myself

,which hopefully will be getting fitted this weekend, so there should be twin Pecos at Knockhill to compete with the sound of that spitfire.

Jim,

I've always been a supporter of "as nature intended" so uncircumcised. I think it looks great and sounds even better and has transformed the rear end looks of my car. Very good value for money - nice and sporty but not overly loud and now it has carbon'd up a bit has a deep throaty resonance

Alan and I will certainly be a match for the low flying spitfire !!

Spoke to Booby Dickerse yesterday. 20 cars , fully booked, didn't seem too keen on more m100's trying to keep it for the kit car elans I gather. Has nominated Rambo and Bigerch as m100 contingent.

Erch, if yer busy I'll take your place. He suggested that all you lucky reps would still have to pay the full entrance price, and passengers too !

If there is more interest for this (stevo, 2cv/roverboy, sheepshaggers etc) could we hit a nearby campsite the night befor (fife?/perthshire ) and get there early sun ?

If Booby Dickerse can't get the you in on a freebie its only £12 in advance and I'm up for a camp out on the Saturday night. I'll try and see if there's a local campsite - or we could just turn up at Knockhill and doss out ?? I've heard that Abe Titmuss may be there - or was it Sam Fox ?? Someone with big tits anyway !!

Mark,
I won't be at Knockhill as the date this Sunday clashes with "Motorvation" at the Grampian Transport Museum at Alford.

I've been to this for the past couple of years and it is really amazing. Everything from 1890's steam cars to the latest supercars, and all driving about as well as being on display, and lots of them. Also a car auction, trade stands, Owners Club pitches, etc. All the usual, and only 30 mins drive from me (OK 40 mins since the polis make a point of placing mobile speed cameras on all the roads).

The only thing which made me leave last year was the third appearance of the local brass band in the arena in the middle of the race circuit.

I wonder which one BigErch will attend.
