I'm now the proud owner of Deb's red Elan, so just wanted to say thanks to everyone at the H&C for all your advice, and particulary Jim B, who came out and viewed the car with me, as well as offering lots of useful tips.

See you at the H&C in July!
Regards

Not me - mine's a J plate, and I'm at the protective stage where I wouldn't leave the car on her own in a shop car park!

Maybe. I'm working up near Telford on Wednesday and whether I come home via the H&C or not very much depends on what time I escape.

Rob,

Glad to hear you might make it - can't believe your Elan is still not fixed. I think there's a jinx on the weather for H+C - it's pouring here at present - still, it might clear up later?

Steve, good luck; I was hoping to get a couple of things blasted and powder coated via you - maybe next time.

Toodle pip

Sorry but we are unable to make it due to a last minute change of plan. Hope it stays dry and you are able to have a pint in the garden!

See you next month or at Goodwood on Friday

Another successful meeting last night, with Chris, Deirdre, Rob S, Rob B, Michelle, Nige and myself.

Topics covered; wheel nuts; fixing dishwashers; etc etc :gathering:

A gaggle of Austin-Healeys, a Ferrari 355 :smt110 and a Morgan were present - they were rendezvousing for the Le Mans Classic run.

Kitty stands at £8.10

See you next time

An eventful run home!

Halfway between H&C & Winchester on A31 Temp gauge rises until off the clock and stays there. Pull over into closest layby and pop bonnet, sound of electric coolant pump working but clearly not moving any fluid. Hissing sound from header tank and jet of steam visible in the torchlight, bu**er!

The tube bit on the header tank where the top overflow hose attaches has split around the circumference and the resultant hole is the source of the leak. Bit of makeshift repair required, silicon sealant in toolbox used to bung up hole. remains of bottled water, topped up from a variety of sources including puddles strained through handkerchief put enough liquid in the system to get me to Rownhams services on M27 to fill up with water after a tour round Winchester found no services open.

Need a new header tank, anyone know what its from? (I'll do a search)
