FWIW, The Mitsu Evo has a restrictor like the one pictured and it fits into the BSV valve like a pill in a hose. Remove it and--viola--more boost.

So they melted the end of a t-pipe cause they were too cheap to use the right measley plastic crappy piece -- geez, what a bunch of numbskulls !!

The restrictor simply pushes into the end of the rubber tube about 1/2" and you reconnect to the hard pipe next to the dustbin.
Yes, melting a T piece

Thanks for the pic Dave, seems like a previous owner may have removed this little inconvenient item :?
Fuel to air ratio - dont think I want to know

Finally had my 2 1/2 inch 'mandrel' bent exhaust fitted :)
Seems fine so far, have'nt jacked her up for a proper look yet though :?
Seems to be hesitating on full boost now, more noticeably in 4th and 5th.
Maybe down to the fact I have a 2 1/2 inch system on now which is bent correctly???????? Did'nt have this problem with the powerflow 2 1/2 inch system.

All seems well apart from the oval tailpipe (you know the little bit that sticks out of the back for all to see) that I requested, appears to have been made by my boy Sam???? (he's 2 today!) Either that or the borstal dotted fitter has moved premises :?

May as well make use of this double post :D

The reason for it hesitating in 4th and 5th on full boost is perhaps because the turbo is now being allowed to spool to whatever bar with nothing to stop it? whereas before it had the squish in the exhaust, although I cant understand why the 2 1/2 inch powerflow system didnt have this problem? I cant believe it has only arisen because it now has mandrel bends?
Thats about the best way I can describe it :?

Anyone agree?

Fuel to air ratio - dont think I want to know

At the very least check the plugs after a hard run (& post a pic!) - you don't want to melt one of those if you are running too lean

I replaced the plugs when I refitted the engine and all seemed well. Not sure if I had a particularly hard run prior to lay up though?

Project update -

The Beast is running fine after fitment of upgrades. Slight squeal from the Wilwood brakes, may try copperslip on the pads if it continues.
Have fitted Geoffs bleed valve (I have some spare stellas Geoff ;-) )and set the boost to around 0.9 bar.
My blue samco hoses which have been tested worldwide by many race teams are operating fine, no increase in bhp but at £160 for a tried and tested product which may well save me a costly cylinder head replacement = money well spent.

Are you still getting the hesitation in 4th and 5th? I assume it is overboosting - but to what? You have the BBR kit on it I believe from previous posts.
Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated.

Dave - I'm no longer getting the hesitation. Your right, I have the BBR fitted (at present), There was no restrictor valve thingy ( :? ) and i'm led to believe there was nothing whatsoever controling the boost  seems the cars been running on full boost for several years
There was a bodged plastic joint inbetween the 5mm pipe which runs from the turbo to the BSV. I can only hope for the sake of my pistons that this restricted the boost a little??? :?
I currently have a bleed valve ( Care of Geoffers :) ) fitted which has enabled me to turn down the boost. Prior to this being fitted I temporarily installed Montys Boost gauge which has a higher reading than the stock one, and recorded boost readings of 1.4 bar, maybe even more
Since turning the boost down with the bleed valve the hesitation has stopped. I think the turbo just couldnt keep up??

Stevo - stiffy seems fine, not sure of any performance gains as I had so much work done at the same time.

Dico

A quick question about the flywheel (I have the same one and a fewquestions), did you use new bolts AND/OR apply any Loctite? Thanks

I can't believe what they did to your exhaust! I had 2.5 inch custom piping made and its crushed bent with a high flow cat, not top notch but it works, and hard to complain about at $250 US...

Dico, do you have any "after" pics of your engine bay yet?
Also, I know from Motny's (well that's what his avatar says) vid that your car works, but just exactly how well does it work now?
Have you had it rolling roaded?
