Forgot to mention that you can mix Sikaflex with a bit of turpentine and use it as rubber paint too

Nearly finished my refurb with rubber paint and happy with the results. Will post some pics later today...here's hoping for a completely waterproof elan:)

I'm afraid I've to report partial unsuccess....

The rubber paint from 'frosts' is excellent (AS LONG AS TWO SURFACES YOU PAINT WILL NOT COME INTO CONTACT WITH EACH OTHER)

I'll illustrate, where the window glass comes into contact with the top seal - fine. However where the body seals meet at the door - disaster - both stick to each other and pull off - this is after treatment with rubber grease - because I feared it might happen.

Just about to go and set a hose on the hood...pray for me:)

Did you wait for them to be completely dry first? You meant you painted the door seal? :?

Over the weekend I shifted to rebuilding the left headlamp motor :)

I HAVE A DRY CAR!! I left the seals for 24 hours AND applied rubber grease before putting them together - I guess its just not designed for that purpose - however on seals where they join metal or glass - superb...

Will try to get some pics up today...

Mmmm mine wasn't when I bought it - the guy said oh a few drops - as if...and he was a member on here. Won't mention his name. It's been a real achievement for me...as a newbie to refurbing a Lotus...

This forum is simply superb and an invaluable resource :D :D

So now I'm a Tinkerer. Whoopee~~

I knew mine is gonna leak water. They all do. I use my car to daily commute to work. Rain is gonna hit her someday.
So first: make her rain proof. Second, get rid of all interior squeaky noise. Ah, and probably a new window motor, minor leak, new hoses, loose radio connector, .... Ah, and may be with a new green hood, respraying ..., ...
Then I'll be a really happy Elanman :smt039 :smt039 :smt038 :burnout: :smt038 :smt039 :smt039
Pics please.

Ekapol - I know exactly how you feel - after fixing the gearbox?? problem - I'll be replacing the instrument panels, getting new gaiters for the handbrake....etc etc etc...

I wonder if other people who don't have Lotus' do this to or are we all weird :D

Yes, we are just weird :smt117

Few minutes spirited hood-down driving on a twisty hilly road, and I forgive her all, scraping knuckles or not :smt075

It was raining a lot yesterday. I spent 40 minutes driving back home with completely dry left knee.

Something was definitely missing there.

Could I even be happier? :smt026
