Any USA companies I can buy a new hood from vs Europe?

Hey I just got 1991 lotus elan for a wedding present.

Was wondering if there was any US companies i could get a hood from?

you could get a hood made in the UK sent over--but the fitting of the hood to the car is the most important part -- ask Sy and he will confirm that this is why Trim Technology is so good for new hood installs (in the UK). Should you find a great top shop, you could likely get a top sent and fitted locally then.

I just bought a new top recently but it hasn't been install yet. I bought it from Cabrioworld and it's the same fabric as the original. I got BRG of course.

I too just purchased a new hood from Cabrio World, also in BRG. It just arrived the other day and looks great. However, it does NOT come with the elastic strips that go between the hood frame members. You'll have to find an alternative source for them.

I'm still debating the decision to hand it off to a shop or be brave and attempt it myself. Has anyone else here ever attempted to fit their own? Any special tools/adhesives/etc. that might be needed? I've got a week off before school starts back...

I remember Sy posting on how when his top was fitted he was impressed with what a job it was to get it on and adjust it properly -- granted he went to the most competant place in the world for Elan tops though. Bottom line is to find the place with the most convertible top experience if you ask me -- they have the proper tools and glues and knowhow to get it done hopefully right.

What the hell were you thinking man! I can't believe you sold your car. I don't show my face around here for a while and when I come back this is what I find. Tell me you at least replaced it with something else respectable. Been back here in Phx lately?

As for my own... Yeah, that's where I'm leaning. But the fact that I'm still doing the full time student thing makes me contemplate crazy things sometimes. Like this.

Thanks for pointing out that there no straps. Opened mine up and pulled it out but did not check for the straps. Shouldn't be a big deal at all.

Yeah! I took it out of the box and draped it across the car as soon as it came in. It will look quite nice once it is installed. I'm still waiting on the seals to come in though. So it won't happen as fast as I'd like...

Nowhere special, just Dave Bean... Hopefully the seals, along with the inner and outer door wipes, were shipped today. One of my door speakers finally gave up the ghost, so I took the doors apart and figured I'd replaced the worn out bits in there as well. Gonna be busy next week.
