Ratman,

You're in luck! I'll swap you my perspex covered good condition original for an S2 Plinth.

Whereabouts are you? Let me know when you have the car.

I'm pretty sure it's not reflecting autovelox - it's just a piece of perspex.

Cheers

Ratman,

Yeah, yeah I'll throw in a new seal (although I normally just use black Sikaflex.)

Keep in touch, I'm out of the country until Sept 8th

wasnt there a thing about the licence cover not long after it first came out....
the ploice asked lotus to change the design as it inadvertantly reflected the flash back at the new speed cameras and they couldnt see the number to send you your 3 points and the invoice!!!

Not to steal the thread,but...

Are there two types of Perspex cover..

I thought mine was looking a little tiered so I got one from SWL.. and all I got was the clear laminate, not the full cover.. This means I’ll have to separate it from the backing piece..

She is an early Élan though..

what do you mean about the 'full' cover??....
I got one from them and it was a sheet of perspex with a curved lip to the top and with 'smoking' in black to the last inch to the edges....
thought that was it!!!!
can you descibe the two variants.....

Spot on Gareth - it was deemed illegal by the Polis at the time - so that's why I've still got mine !! :D

I think Hethel stopped putting the on the M100 because of this and that's why you don't see too many with them on. Personally, I think it looks better finished with the perspex cover

I have only seen one S1 Cover, the two on this thread are the same only one has the GRP housing included with the bent sheet of perspex/acrylic attached.

I used an Automotive silicone sealant to stick the two together and number plate mounting tape to fit the unit to the car before screwing it on.
you may need to loosen the bumper to fit the unit.

The S1 has holes in the transom pannel to prevent the unit from misting, this may be worth considering if you fit this to an S2.

I'm still looking for a number plate that doesn't melt in this little 'greenhouse'.

Cheers,

Phil
