It's a know fact that a bigger exhaust system gives u approx another 40 bhp on the Elan SE

So if those ebay readings were at the fly then u'r only gaining 10bhp over stock which is a load of bollocks.

So with bigger bore u should be getting approx 205 bhp at the fly even without the chip.

I see, the figures you want to believe must be correct and the ones i state must be wrong lol

A bigger exhaust does not give 40bhp, the onset of boost creep if your system produces it can maybe give 40bhp if you can wait that long to find out with your foot planted. Boost creep is a fault with your installation and not a 40bhp upgrade as your suggesting, a 2.25" system with no boost creep would be nearer the gains the ebay ad state.

A 10bhp gain over stock on an old maybe poor running car like the 152 figure quoted before exhaust is more than realistic so not "bollocks".

mmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Let me think who do i believe, lets see someone who knows SFA and sells his biggest up grade cause he doesn`t like the sound or someone who designs and develops exhaust system for Peco and who has experience many years of rolling road etc. Do me a favour and don`t post on this thread.

Oh here`s a little something for u

Jeez man whats your problem ! Now i know nothing cause i have a differant view ? there was me thinking this was a free FORUM for elan owners !

I know sweet fa cause i wanted a quieter system yet you went back to get a second box to make yours quieter so you must know as much as me then mate

Then you link to information supposedly proving your point yet if you look at this same information http://www.asnu59.dsl.pipex.com/elan/gr ... eb_std.jpg it shows quite clearly that there is major boost creep giving the high bhp output not the exhaust !

And then to top it all you claim you dont get boost creep ? of course you dont you ported your wastegate ! the reason you have good bhp comparable to the boost creep graphs is you have the everest !

If you dont want responses to your posts maybe you shouldn't post in the first place or set up your own forum with just yourself as a member :P

It is a free forum, but this is my project thread and didn`t want it cluttered with a load of bollox. u ask a question are u sure thats not at the fly and i answered u`r question yes it`s at the wheels but u seem to think it`s not. which is make me out to be a liar.

Tell u what why don`t u ring Dave at Peco and ask him was the results from the fly or at the wheels.

Nice picture Monty. Just read about the stickers the other day but it was before I got an Elan. :(

Did anyone think of doing a couple for theelanman?

My other Elan is FWD and My other Elan is RWD

It was TIMMO

I came across someone selling fleeces etc but it was just before I bought mine.
You can't remember who it was can you and whether they are likely to do another run?

Just a little update,

Changed both front bearings the other week and noticed the rust coming through on the New suspension parts so i`ve clean them and this time just clear waxoyl them.

In the manual it says there should be always 8 shims for the castor adjustment which are in between the top ball joint and wishbone but mine only has 6 and there was only 6 on Pinky1 :?
Has anyone else noted how many shim`s they`ve got when doing suspension work?

Pinky also passed her MOT today :-D with no prob`s. 8)

Well at long last i`ve got my ass in to gear and fitted the rollbar, i`ve add perferated metal sheet in to the hoops :-D But i`m having the same problem as Dico and no matter what i did the middle mounting plate would not sit flush with out hitting the hood storage lid  , i tried enlarging holes for more adjustment and even grinded down the two side plates so it sits lower to no avail  So for now i`ve had to do the same and fit spacers (which i`m not happy with) After me spraying the hoops the roof catches the hoops and has taken the paint off :( i`m so pissed off with it i`ve just left as is :? But still got the windbreaker to fit.

The perforated metal looks cool. I have exactly the same marks where the roof scrapes! Took the paint I spent ages spraying off as well, which was annoying. I can't work out why your centre mount won't sit flush though: Mine went in like a charm. Are you sure the side mounts aren't set too high, i.e. with the lower part of the plate catching in the channel of the U-section?

Yeah the side mounts are high but if i lower it any more the hood storage lid hits the Y shape brace :? personely i think the hoops should of been an 1" lower and the centre plate should go direct to the chassis ie cut out a square in the tub!
Yeah i`m quite happy with the perferated steel, just got to find another way of fitting marie`s windbreaker. :-D

One inch lower would look about right Monty. Still, a scraped rollbar is infinitely better than a scraped skull !! And that black perforated metal looks the business
