Archie,

lovely Elan and wonderful looking pad! If you were closer I'd shoot over and land the plane in your property--but the gas tanks won't get me across the Atlantic too fast. Have fun with the house? manor?

Which day are you thinking of going to Callander? I could give you the daughterboard & switch kit back and save some postage :-D . Maybe we could also chat about the results.

I was thinking of the Saturday, although if the dyno session goes badly I might decide the peak district looks attractive...

I have booked aroom in the Dreadnought for the Saturday night, so I'll be arriving after lunch on Saturday and be around for the evening's entertainment. When I get to Callander I'll come looking for Elans and tents (although most of you will probably be away on the "scenic drive" until mid-afternoon).

Alan, I'll send you an email with my mobile number so that we don't miss each other. Probably mid-afternoon to evening?

Didn't Dico and Monty get us banned for life from the curry house and the pub. I heard they had to destroy the carpet as they couldn't get rid of the honk of curried chunder and Bailey's !!

I've re-sized your photo's for easier viewing Archie - looks a great challenge. I'll pop in sometime on the way to Rothiemurchus

Weather report for the weekend says dry, but will it stay that way?

Hmmm it would appear not. Forecast now says "chucking it down" for Sunday. Quelle surprise.

On a more positive note, my camping permit and entrants plaque arrived today :-)

Changed again Alan - now chucking it down late Sat. afternoon - Sun. looks sunny with clouds until evening when things go belly up. Fingers crossed, we may escape the rain yet.

Monty,
It's taking part which counts. OK we lost. The Elan Sprints won, but I don't understand why because we got lots more cones than them.

Some pics below. And some questions:
Did ESM's Quaife get him out of trouble or into it?
Did you know that Stevo can get his dump valve to work while in reverse?
Did Stef make her flight?

A good day out.

John

Team LEC consisting of JohnW and Alan (ESM) in lead car, Alan (AB2CV) and Ian in the Ribena mobile and Stiffy and Steffy in Missy got to the semi finals - next year the finals and top of the podium. Unfortunately Stevo and Stef had to leave early to make a mad dash to the airport and up stepped ESM to the mark. It wasn't the Quaife thet hindered Alan - just that 15 stone lump of lard known as Rambo sitting in the passenger seat !!

Club Lotus won the best stand of the show, the Elan Sprints won the driving competition and an immaculate Elan came 3rd in the overall Concours competition.

A good day for Lotus and also a good laugh into the bargain.

Here's a few more pics.

Was a great weekend!

Kept the fire going from Friday night to when we left! :-D

Friday there was Stevo, Julie and myself but the campers around us provided plenty of entertainment and with a bottle and a half of Abelour was quite funny! People flocked like flies to Shyte to the fire as usual and a Navara full of logs was a proud sight!

The weather was hit and miss but generally OK.

Couldn't believe I had come allt hat way to get away from Northants only to find a big campment of Northants MG owners clubbers! Cheers for the beer n dram boys. Sorry we beat ya in the challenge!

So did the M100's end up going head to head with the Old Elans?

Did make the flight, was a little close but all went well finally. Next year a trip over the Duke's pass is a must!

I was gutted not to have little Blipi there or Tivi. Terrible being car less in an event like that. Sigh.

Next year we were talking about doing a longer adventure including Callander and I am hoping to drag up some more people from doon sooth to add numbers and variety.

Ta for the pics. I will download and post the comical camping Ab2cv and friends provided! Heh heh!

Oh, and the ribena mobile was looking dead smart ;)

A massive thanks to Stevo for his loan of Missy for the week and for the drives at Callander. Helped my holiday go well. Cheers doode. :)

Looks like you all had a good time and sun came out for Sunday.

So the old boys in their Sprints won yet again.

Who won the CL concours, with Andy ennis not being there to defend his trophy ?

57 mile cycle to Murrayfield went well with only 1 shower to contend with, sun and tail wind most of the way.
