I'd be interested in one from the next batch.

I plan to install mine tomorrow :-D How long did it take you all to do it? Is BP energrase LC2 hard to find in the US? Really that we need to soak the pin overnight with WD40? Sorry for all newbie's questions, that is ... what I am

I just had a chat with Jimp357 about the fitting of this with AB cables. Jim says he didn't loosen an adjuster nut on the cable and he agrees that doing so would remove much of the difficulty in fitting that cable (he had a bit a 'doh' moment when he read the suggestion).

I'll leave Jim to post his impressions of the change in the shift.

Your not kidding about "doh" moments (had a couple of biggies this weekend  ).

The short shift has given the gear change a lovely feel. Precise, crisp. It just drops into gear a treat now. Very positive.

Fitting. As has been said, easy with hindsight (and probably two brain cells working together). I found that there wasn't quite enough free movement to make connecting the crossgate cable easy. Unlock the rear locking nut (1/2 inch or so) on the AB crossgate cable and there should be more than enough play to fit it. Once on, relock and job done.

There appears to be no interference from the AB cable and the for/aft leaver. Close, but no contact.

As for the component quality. Spot on Dave, excellent job 8) . I can honestly say that I will not be going back to the original setup. This is what it should have been like. :-D

Thumbs up from me. This shortshifter is great! I prefer it to the original.
My mechanic said if he were to install it again. He could do it in 30min.

Great mod!

2nd that :-D Installed mine over the weekend. With 2 washers on the crossgate side. 1 washer on the other side. You can feel the difference with/without washers. Very positive feeling.

I have Isuzu cables and they don't seem to have "lock" & "unlock" feature. Don't know how to adjust them, self-adjusted ? :? The rubber boots (not cables) are touching/squeezing to each other sometimes, but they seem fine to me.

Nicely done Dave :burnout:

I have a faint memory that the Isuzu cables adjust at the gearstick end of the cable....

Hi :D Thanks for the feedback - good to hear that those who have fitted the kit are happy with the result. With regard to the cable adjustment the fore / aft shoud be roughly OK without adjustment but the cross gate will definitely need some to get the lever back in the correct position. If Alan is correct then it sounds like a bit of a pain if you have the Isuzu cables
Got back to work yesterday (after a great trip to NY & Cape Cod  ) and checked the material prices - supplier has agreed to keep them at the previous level for this batch :D so I've ordered another lot. Parts should be ready in 3 weeks so start saving

Thanks Alan. I plan to have the shifter section out for installing Dave M's solid shifter mount.

Currently, the way I feel was just confirmed by Dave's above comments about crossgate side adjusting. So excited that it could even be better than what I have now. :-D

Just saw this also. I don't want to be unlucky 13, but is there still room to jump in? Would love to try it out at Laguna Seca in the the corkscrew and hairpin.

Cheers,
Jim
