Hood fitter - Birmingham (UK)

The situation seems to have changed at Trim technologies regarding fitting replacement hoods.

I decided to buy a new hood (see Trim Technologies - Hood Sell Off www.lotuselancentral.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7720 ). They were happy to supply the hood for £499.99 including seals but would not fit it. Craig said that they are now only prepared to fit the hood if a new frame is purchased at the same time - this was on 18th September that he told me this.

The S2 hood comes with 2 aluminium adaptor plates to allow it to be fitted to an SE (which my car is) and all the seals except the one between the rear hoop and the deck, which doesn't have to be removed to it the replacement cover. And of course no A pillar seals.

Having searched around for someone local to fit it, I have just collected the car back from Gary at www.thehoodguys.co.uk in Kings Heath, Birmingham B14 7BB.

He had a few problems, as he had not tackled an M100 before, and it took him longer than he expected. But he has done a very thorough job, with great attention to detail. He is slightly concerned about the way that the seals are sitting around the top corner at the rear of each side window, it looks to me as if this is caused by the extra width of the S2 hood. It seems to seal OK though, I'll see what happens when it rains hard! Gary has suggested that I go back in a week or two when the new seals have settled in and he will check it over again.

Based on the service he has given me so far, I would certainly recommend him.
