Clear side repeaters

Postby Rambo » Wed 24.11.2004, 22:08

Upgrade the look of your Elan and go for clear side repeaters. Available from any Rover/MG garage (part no. XGB000060A) for £17.65 inc. VAT

The old orange ones had never been removed in 14 years and looked a bit jaded and cracked. Bit of a bugger to remove but the end result against the Calypso red looks good.

Mark

Hi,

Just got these from Europa spares but it turned up just the indicator, no bulbs or harness, Will i beable to use the original bulb holder (harness) and get new bulbs?

You need FL17H Harness as well otherwise £6.58

Anyone with an easy guide to get the old ones out and whats is the bulb model in orange?

Cheers

Phone them up. When I initially ordered mine they sent just the glass. The catalogue says (well, used to say) quite distinctly that the bulbs were included.
I didn't need a harness though...?

Cheers Mate,

I rang them up earlier and said exactly the same thing, it does say lamps and bulbs.

They are sending some free in the post today.

FL17C Clear side repeater lamps £8.45 Total £12.28 2005 Cat.

Is it a hand inside the wing job or getting a little rough with them from the outside?

Cheers

Hand inside - quarter turn to remove bulb and mount, then squeeze the lugs to remove the plastic housing through the aperture to the outside. Hardest bit was removing and replacing the bulb in the restricted space.

PaulN

I have done this twice now, and it's just like Sy says but I had to remove all the sealant around the fitting on the inside wing to remove it.

The wire should be long enough to poke through the hole for changing the bulb.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the advice, thought I would put my spare 20 minutes to good use last night :?

Like you said there was a ton of sealant around the light, i decided to put a hammer and screwdriver to the old ones as the clip wouldn't move. I was a little concerned about the body work so went the softly softly way.

Anyway got them out and new ones in (not as secure as i would like, hence the sealant before) Just got to put the bulbs in tonight which got sent to me today.

Right next, I know you can get the Front clear indicators but any advice on either light black tinting the whole rear cluster or only red tinting the yellow? Does the outter clear plasic cover come off and allow you to tint on the inside?

Cheers

Just remembered that the side indicators have a small hole in them, just make sure you have it's at the bottom or it will fill up with water!

Honest a friend told me

Cheers Gazza,

I had already noted that and made sure it was pointing down.

Would that not be to let the water out rather than in?

Thanks for the warning though.

Cheers
