Big bore stainless exhaust

Postby Abington » Sat 02.12.2006, 21:41

My mild steel exhaust has finally given up the ghost! Where should I go for a new stainless, larger bore system, and what about over-boost from the turbo?

Is this the time to think about a chip as well?

Any advice and guidance would be gratefully received.

Go here for a new one - there have been a lot of satisfied customers and no bad reports.

Some get boost creep, some don't. There's no hard and fast rule.
So some choose to just live with it.

While some brave (or foolish) souls remove their turbo and port the wastegate.
That's really a nice weather job though as the myriad of seized/snapping fasteners can take ages to attack from all angles, and leave you off the road for weeks. I can point you in the direction of plenty of information but you're probably best off having a good read around the site and only jumping off that bridge if you come to it!

Alan's chips go some way towards reducing the effects of boost creep. However you're going to want to use the increased performance (approx 40BHP) that you get, so would be wise to consider an upgrade from the stock brakes.
Striking fear into the hearts of duplicate posts everywhere...! :P
