Lotus owners, mark your calendars!

For those of you new to the Lotus world - LOG 27 is the 27th annual Lotus Owner’s Gathering presented by Lotus, Ltd. – “North America’s Largest Lotus Car Club”. LOG 27 will be held August 24-27, 2007 in Aspen Snowmass, Colorado. Lotus owners from around the world are already planning to gather at the Silvertree hotel for four days of the premier Lotus event, situated within the Snowmass ski slopes

The theme for this year’s event: “Celebrating the Spirit of Colin Chapman” recognizes the founder’s principles in the DNA that follows to this day in every Lotus, from the Mark I to the newest Elise and Exige models.

We expect this Lotus Owner’s Gathering to be another very exciting and memorable one. We plan on welcoming Mike Kimberley, CEO of Group Lotus as a special guest of Lotus, Ltd. We look forward to him bringing more exciting news about upcoming new cars from Lotus, including the much-anticipated new “Lotus Supercar,” the Esprit and more. LOG has proven to be a favorite location for Lotus to preview new models for the loyal owners.

In recognition of Lotus racing history, we anticipate reuniting Emerson Fittipaldi with his Lotus 72 JPS World Championship car and his mechanic Bob Dance along with current Classic Team Lotus head, Clive Chapman. We also will have a special message delivered to the LOG by Hazel Chapman in celebrating the 35th anniversary of that Championship season and a special performance of “Working All Nighter” as performed by the 1972 team mechanics. Additional special Lotus anniversary cars such as the Seven and Elite, which were introduced 50 years ago, the Elan and Elan plus Two, will also be celebrated along with more recent Lotus race champions like the 1992 World Challenge winning x180R.

TV personality (www.speedtv.com) Alain de Cadenet and guest speakers take the stage to give us a glimpse into the mind and character of Colin Chapman. While most known for his “Victory by Design” shows, Alain is an accomplished builder and driver of numerous cars and titles. You also may recognize him by his appearances on the Barrett-Jackson TV auctions.

Sunday’s activities feature an autocross, a local road rally and an evening banquet. Monday will be our exciting track experience at historic Woody Creek Raceway, a mere few miles from the hotel.


Come for the LOG and stay for the memorable family vacation at special LOG lodging rates from $95.00 per night. The special rates are good for as long as you want to stay before or after the LOG. We have lots of activities planned for family member that may not be as car crazy as we are, so they can be doing memorable things while we play with our Lotuses.

Plan on attending whether or not you are bringing your Lotus. Short break from decorating duties

Dear Sy:

I'm sure Lew meant well by posting it in the Events-UK thread. I'm sure all he was trying to do is get the word out to as many LEC-ers as possible. The thought being that there could be LEC-ers who might be interested in attending, but who may never look at the non-UK event threads. Or may have never even heard of Lotus Owner Gatherings in the US.

This is a big deal for us. Our local club (Lotus Colorado or, as it is more affectionately known, LOCO) is the group putting the whole gig together.

I hope you and your family will consider attending. With the weak dollar, the abundance of flights to Denver and the LOG in Aspen/Snowmass, I can't think of a better way for you folks to come out here and see breathtaking sights like Yellowstone, Zions National Park, the Great Salt Lake, Moab, Vail and Southwestern Colorado. I'll have more information in the days and weeks ahead.

We are planning on driving to LOG and have started the careful planning needed to make sure we can pack as much sight seeing as possible into the allocated vacation.

Given six days to get there and six days to get home. Figure 400 miles per day to give ample time to see the sights. We may be able to drive the M100 in a few previously unvisted states.

Dear Jim and others interested in LOG 27:

Anybody interested in heading up to Yellowstone after the LOG? My girlfriend has not been there and its been a few years since I've taken in the sights. If I can take off the balance of the week of August 27th, anybody interested in heading up to see Old Faithful?

Since it is so hard to get rooms at either the Old faithful Inn or the Jackson Lake Lodge, we better move now.

We had been planning on taking in Yellowstone NP prior to LOG. I've been working out how to get there, what to see and how to get to LOG from there.

Do you have any suggestions on what routes would be best? I am currently planning on getting to the park by either of two routes, starting from I-90W: rt310 to rt210 or rt89 then heading for LOG via: rt89 - I-15S - I-70E. I would like to stop at Arches NP again. It was our favorite park when we made our grand tour (driving the M100) visiting the North rim of the canyon, Bryce, Zion & Mesa Verde.

Are you wanting to hit Yellowstone before or after the LOG? I am willing to organize a trip to Yellowstone after the LOG for the LEC-ers who are coming over. Assuming there are people willing to take me up on this offer, you are more than welcome to join in. In other words, all LEC-ers are invited to join in.

I had been planning to visit Yellowstone prior to LOG. If there is a chance of geting a group together to visit after LOG I will have to reevaluate our vacation schedule.
