Hey all...1991 Lotus Elan, Houston, TX here.
About a week ago I see a leak coming from the engine area and learn that it is power steering fluid. Took the car in today (to general mechanic) and they want to either replace or rebuild the entire rack and pinion...
Anyone have any insight into this problem at all? Any information or insight is greatly appreciated.

I had to replace my rack & Pinion entirely. It is an expensive part usually but lotus aftersales have with a big discount. See if it pays to change entirely for a new one or if the rebuilding will be cheaper. My guess is that maybe the replacement will be the best option since this way will have everything new and in perfect working order.

I do believe lotus don't have ant left now, but they do have seal kits, so perhaps your best options is to take the rack to someone who can refurb it, as its a pig of a job to get out in the 1st place !
JPS M100 was built from bare chassis up to create one off M100 in the mould of JPS Team Lotus

I was not able to see a list of available/unavailable parts...I only submitted a request via the form that was there for the part.
They have not responded to anything as of today.
How can I check for this parts availability?
Will they deliver to any dealer in the US (specifically Houston, TX)? How can I locate the approved dealer list for the US?

You need to get under the car yourself and try locating where it`s leaking, if it`s coming from one off the pipes then it that just need replacing but if it`s leaking from the bellows etc then it`s a refurb job.
