Moved from the "Help with Postings" section.
I thought the rack was a Landrover/Jaguar part... Never heard either being cross-referred to Vauxhall.
Have you checked the parts cross reference section?
Mon Dieu...

According to Mark Hughes in his book LOTUS ELAN written with inside information from Lotus the steering rack was manufactured by ADWEST Engineering who do also manufacture for Landrover but no-one seems to have completed the trail for parts, I suggest you read Technical > Suspension and Brakes > Track Rod Ends. This gives plenty of information on the subject.
All the best plans are flexible, Lotus use Sicaflex.

The steering rack is similar to the Vauxhall/Opel Vectra 1995-2002 and I can confirm that the track rod ends are a perfect fit. The valving may be different.
Although Adwest did make a steering rack for the Defender / Discovery, the information about Landrover is misleading as the track rod ends for Landrover are male ends whereas the Elan rack requires female ends.
Hope this helps.
