Steering wheel replacement

Going to be putting my Elise non airbag wheel on sometime this week and decided to read the upgrade link again:

Not intending to put down the author but the single most important step appears to be missing. Disconnect the battery and wait ten minutes There is no capacitor in the circuit and this 'should' eliminate any possibility of the bag going off. Also i did ask previously does the airbag light now stay on when changed ? (as opposed to going through the self test flash then off) or is it the same procedure as the Esprit with the fitting on an in-line diode?

The "capacitor" is the DERM module which retains the charge to deploy the airbag for some time (15 minutes?) after power is cut. The SIR telltale lamp will blink then stay on permanently is the airbag is dicsonnected or removed. You could just remove the light from the back of the speedo cluster or wait 'till it burns out
