Original steering rack - used

I had a new rack fitted ( thx DaveEds for supplying). The one that came out has a worn rack which according to the mechanic is beyond repair. However before it goes in the skip does anyone want it??
Could the 'Hokey-Cokey' actually be what it's all about?
