What is this? Forgot what this does - not a Sten Gun!

Postby AJSGSE1990 » Thu 20.08.2026, 06:52

Sorry about this, I now it's dumb not to take 1000 pictures when dismantling a car, and I should have done better. For the life of me I cannot remember where this goes?

Google Image search considers this is a:

Tubular and flat-steel welded shoulder stock / buttplate assembly designed to fit the rear socket housing of a STEN Mk II or Mk III receiver.

Thanks!

Hi, its a 'bracing strut, underframe to longeron', either C100A0217F (LH) or C100A0216F (RH). Very easy to forget to fully tighten the top bolt resulting in a clonk when braking

Ah, but Dave, I bet you had worked out if it was a left or right!

Well, I didn't get that far as by the time I'd got the right page from the parts book, I didn't refer back to the photo...... my initial explanation was that is goes from the raft to the chassis, and wanted to add the pictures to make it easier to visualise...... it is one of those parts that can easily be confusing as to proper location...... especially as when rebuilding the suspension, it looks 'complete' before it is bolted in.

Anyway, I would expect that both sides would be done (although that is an assumption) as this is a very thorough rebuild project.
