My experience on tinkering with PAS pumps is.... 0 So I expect another steep learning curve.

True, but not THIS one as it turns out now...

I cut the belt to the pump (as it was time to change anyway)
This did not change anything, so the problem was not in the PAS pump (but the Alternator...)
