Video/Audio Editing Software

The headcam appears to have worked OK yesterday, and there's enough usable imagery there to edit into a fairly good video.
But, like Monty's, my audio crackles (same bullet cam) and I'm convinced it's interference from the engine/electronics.
So, I thought I'd add a soundtrack (music). I downloaded Blaze this morning, which edits the video well (although the saving of the edited files takes an age). But I can't seem to see where/if you can add a soundtrack.

Can you?

Does anyone recommend an alternative SW package that can do what I want?

I have been an enthusiastic videographer for at least a decade so I know a few things not to do!

The crackling could be due to a loose headcam/microphone plug if it is irregular. If it is regular and varies with the speed of the engine then it is electronic interference picked up on the cable from the headcam/microphone. ordinary microphones using a miniature jack plug are well know for picking up interference from the motor of DIGITAL cameras (I now have a hard disk camera and the problem has gone away). So, if you can fit headphones to your camera try wriggling the plugs, then move the headcam closer/ further away to the camera and the engine.

Editing - I must have tried most of the software available at a sensible price. I used to use Adobe Premiere until they introduced Premiere Elements (now on version 3) which does everything I want at 1/10th the price (and is much better for producing DVDs) Cyberlink is another good choice but they have a rather confusing mix of products to choose from.

Most of the cheap editing software will allow you to add music/commentary and cut out live sound. Have fun - it is a very time consuming hobby! Send me a PM if you need specific help.

i use cyberlink 'power director' which i think i have a spare copy of. Its not bad and i've produced some reasonable efforts. you can also include jpg's to vary the content.

I think your right about the sound on these bonce cams. Montys footage crackle does seem to vary with engine speed. Try it out but not near any electrical things around and see if you still get the interference.

BTW as George says this can be a very time consuming pastime!!!!

You can do it with Windows Movie Maker that comes free from Microsoft.

I sort of agree with PW above - but make sure that you don't make the files too big. WMM won't cope with anything which involves more than a 4GB file size

It's probably quite good enough for what you want - and you can always enhance it with a 'better', program at a later date!

and trying to use the program to Capture music is pretty hit and miss... bloody micrsoft and it's protection systems..
