WTF is phishing ?

More of a virus/trojan thing than phishing, but I have has a spate of emails recently from UPS and some other delivery companies.

"We tried to deliver a parcel but you were unavailable, please open the attachement for details".

Also, I've received emails from American Airlines "thanks for your web purchase of tickets to the bahamas, your credit card will be charged with $600, please find your tickets attached"

Needless to say if you don't expect an email you should treat it as potentially harmful. Don't open any attachments that end in .exe or .zip.

Even if the email appears to be from someone you know, treat it with suspicion if it's unexpected and contains any attachment - contact the person to check that they did actually send it to you.

Thanks for the reply Ailwyn. I will probably use this filter and am already wary about opening any e-mails without knowing the sender.

I seem to get quite a few e-mails from Barbara and Cathy no doubt wanting tto show me a good time - but more likely wanting a wad of cash. Unfortunately for them, and probably fortunately for me, they end up in the "trash" can

I got into Atlanta @ 4AM last week & exited the interstate onto Chesire Bridge RD by mistake as the new I-85/400 interchange is 50% done, anyway... exiting on Chesire Bridge @ 4AM in a yellow Elan caused several different women to say "Company?", or "You want company?"

Whatever was that about?
