Message Listing

How do I list messages from the (annoying) default "oldest to newest" to "newest-to-oldest" and have it STAY that way?

I did not find a setting for this "preference" in my "profile."

I make this setting whenever I look at a thread, but the setting I make is not sticky and I have to repeat the setting whenever I change threads. I must be missing something obvious.

Please, advise.
