(As an aside, it won’t half be fun in a few years trying to define keywords for this thread, given that it progresses from engine oil through tyres to website design

I know the chap who used to host my business website as a personal friend. He hosts a number of mixed website/forums for other clients, and I’m happy to ask him whether and how he migrates data into and across forum platforms (provided the Sage of Pembroke Dock is happy with that).

Data isn't the issue (ie, migration of websites is a fairly straightforward process) it is the cross-platform stuff that gets complicated - in particular, keeping all the content of a php.bb forum on a different system......

Sorry, Dave, by “data” in my reply, I meant “contents of the forum” rather than the website structure and html itself.
Anyway, I’ll have a word . . .
