Windscreen washer motor

The windscreen washer motor has stopped working. How is it fixed into the washer bottle?
Is the motor screwed in or a push fit?

The washer bottle itself is fairly easy to remove. 3 bolts IIRC.
Once out, it would then be possible to examine the pump fitment.
But check around the bottle for a loose wire first!

Have tried removing water bottle and am struggling with one bolt.
Was hoping to remove the motor without taking the bottle out, but
need to know if it is screwed into bottle.
Will check for loose wires.

mattm don't quote me but I've got a feeling that it might be a push-fit, or even a push-twist.
I took mine out nearly 3years ago to clean out the black fungus that had infested it.
I think I drained it first then had to tilt it to get access to that wretched, infernal, difficult bolt at the rear. I might have had to use a box spanner - or some very different tool - such as a flexy/extension but I managed to get it out and back in...
I do know I suffered a massive puddle in the boot and had to take the carpet out etc - this is what makes me think it was a push-fit.
The boot still smells sweetly of screenwash, even now, so I've definitely been there and felt your pain

Thanks for your post .I have a wet carpet and puddle. I will persevere with the third bolt.
Tilting the tank sounds worth a try. The new motor i have bought is a push fit. I was concerned
about trying to pull the other motor out and damaging the tank if the original is a turn fit not
push fit. Maybe it will be more obvious once the tank is out. Will post which it is when i know.

i recall faffing about with that area when i painted the car. althought i dont recall removing the reservoir, i know exactlyhte bolts because 2 of them are also holding the rear mudguard
i also share the impression the pump was a installed in a push or twist fit. because from recollection there was no bolts or screws attached to the reservoir at all that

I have got the tank out and removed the washer pump from the tank.
The pump was a screw fit into a rubber grommet which remains in the tank body.
I am now struggling to source an identical Tudor Systems pump.

I have no idea if the OE pump is available or not, but would expect it to be from a GM car of the era.

That said, if the actual pump body to tank doesn't leak (or can be sealed), then it wouldn't be hard to fit any old washer pump inline from the tank outlet to the pipe through the car..... either through or bypassing the OE pump body.

Have you used a direct 12v source to check if pump works?
Have you checked if the pump + and - feed wires read 12v when you activate the switch?

Yes i have tried a direct power source and the pump is dead.
Will look at pumps for GM cars of similar vintage.

I have identified and sourced an identical washer pump. It is a Landrover Defender
90 and 110 rear washer motor . Part Ref ADU6693L.

Does anyone know whether the hole in the reservoir stayed the same for the later larger spigot pump and only the grommet changed?
I have a new earlier pump from SJ Sportscar but they don't have any grommets for it so it is pretty useless.

I replaced my this year as it has seized

I used one from a Land Rover Defender. It is a push fit as I could not get the tank out due to 2 bolts just turning. It is a lot easier to put back in if you remove the rear light.

It is interesting to see how may Defender parts are in the Elan as the steering joint from rack to column is an LR part.
