Elan Sold

Postby Breed » Wed 10.09.2014, 15:03

Hi

Have this sitting around covered up on my drive doing nothing. It is an s2 Silk Red, full leather, limited edition 719. Has had new cam belt and ancillaries (water pump etc) and head gasket done in last couple of years. Everything on the car is original lotus parts, this includes cam belt and head gasket, except for EBC front discs. The seals are all salvagable and in better condition than most of the cars at the Lotus festival this year at Brands. It is sorned with no MOT as I am now retired and spend more time in Spain than I do here. Only thing It failed on in past was brakes, handbrake needing adjustment or grease sliders, but no surprise there So I'm looking for a part exchange deal, cash either way with a sports convertible that can sit on my drive for months then can be started and driven straight away by the wife. This leaves Lotus's out of the equation. Preferably a MR2 mk3 or Mazda MX5. Ran a MX5 alongside the lotus for 8 years then sold the MX5. Wrong decision.

This is what it looks like cleaned up, has the usual stone chips, hood has 1 wear point but is not a hole and has not got any worse in the 8 years I have had it. mark on rear window from bird poo but all clear, panel gap is good. 4 owners. Have original radio but has a cracked removable LCD it still works. Can get replacement on Ebay. Only fault that that I can think of is R/H indicator is on permanently. Probably needs flasher pulled and cleaned or new flasher unit. Alloys unmarked. Less than 60K miles and started now and again and let fans cycle a couple of times. Has full set of keys.

Any interest.

Hi Clemo

Update on car.

Still have the car but I am in Spain more than here. Have fixed the indicator problem. Am in England for next 11 days and then back to Spain if anyones interested in making cash offer as px not needed now as bought a Celica. My problem is that I am in England only for short periods at the moment and the car is not a priority as it is not in my way. Still starts first time and gets moved to stop the tyres flat spotting. Would make ideal starting point for someone who likes cars to be original, do not like putting condition down as not every one has the same idea as to what ex, vg or bad is, but I do feel that anyone who sees this will be pleasantly surprised at its condition and in a line up of Elans would be one of the better ones. More pics on the Piper thread as this is the car that they used to fabricate the exhaust. MOT it and thats it nothing more needed to drive. Has owners manual and tool kit.

Hi Clemo

Have had quite a few ask how much and when I say £5000 for a low mileage late car I hear no more so I have decided to let it sit and may get it MOT'd when I get back from Spain (but won't be £5000 then) and then take it from there. So for now please take it off the for sale list.

Kind regards
