Personally, I wouldn't have thought so but as with all things the Market will decide!

Nice looking car though, and good history.

Good luck

Hi Jason,
"are you asking too much?" unfortunately yes.
The car is worth what someone will pay, and you have not said if there are any upgrades
such as bigger brakes, improved gear change, stainless steel exhaust, engine management chip etc etc etc.

Mine had all that and much more, and I ended up parting with her for much less than that.

Sorry to put a dampener on your sale, but a realistic price to get it sold would be nearer the five and a half mark,
but only if the body work and hood are all in good condition. :(

Jim

PS
its the best colour going :burnout:

Hi Jason

I don't think you are asking too much given the rare colour and the fact that the car has good history. I would personally pay more for a car without upgrades as I prefer originality (NB I would see roll bars a benefit for safety)

I think when the weather brightens up you should get some serious interest

Thanks all

The car is the same as when it left manufacturers.

The body work is in excellent condition and so is the roof. The only slight problem with the roof is the internal elastic straps that help push the bars up when closing have lost a bit of there elasticity-easy fix though.

Took her out tonight - turned a few heads and went like a dream :)

Can't believe my autotrader account was hacked and price changed to a very low price. What the scammers do is change one of the pictures with a link to take payment.

Bast#%ds.

Please check with me but I confirm I'm not selling at £2950!!! Had a million calls this morning.

I see so many of these kind of scams listed on local ad sites. If you report them all the site owners do is remove the ads. I have to wonder if there are actually any countries that bother to trace and prosecute these people?? Probably not. Which is why it is such a popular form of crime. :(

It had me going! It was almost credible. Didn't quite get as far as trying to phone "Nicholas Barker" who claimed to be in Holland, where the car was looked after by Lufthansa ground crew, in a hanger! It's very poor that Autotrader is hackable like this.

If it is still for sale, then I think this proves Jim's point. A pity really because I feel the colour is very pretty & the Elan is an underrated car, but obviously I am biased.
How much value does the colour really add? Not a lot.
Upgrades are a matter of taste. For many, they would decrease the resale value. For me, the right mods would be a bonus.
I hate to say it but IMO your asking price is at least 50% too high. :(

:? The price given the time of year when nothing is shifting is maybe a little too high,
(the price is what somebody is prepared to pay at the time, and now is not the time),
Don't let anybody who hasn't seen the car and therefore cannot make a fair judgement on your cars value talk it down :chair:
Personally I would hang on to it until next year when the soft top season starts to kick in again. 8)

:agree:

At the risk of attracting a moderators wrath in discussing prices!! :poke: :bonk:

If by "at least 50% too high" Rip means a price of £3,750 then I would think that would be too low, even at this time of year. Alternatively, if Rip means a price of £5,000 (i.e. £5,000 +50% = your £7,500) then I think the £5k is more realistic taking account of the time of year.

In the Spring, though, I would think a price somewhat higher than £5k may be regarded as achievable.

Some buyers will want upgrades and some may not (Personally I prefer keeping as close to stock as possible). However, as has already been said, a car is only ultimately worth what the market establishes as the "right" price.

At that price I'd expect competition to be strong; hey maybe you should auction it with a start price of £3750 I doubt you'd get your £7k in this climate but I'd reckon £5,500 is achievable.
