I'm having a look at this one next weekend if it's still for sale by then - emailed the owner to get more info - he has owned it for 16 years ! Front end and rear spoiler has been resprayed by recommended Lotus Specialist Paint due to paint looking tired - pics of interior look good - like the cream leather - price for an S2 at that mileage good - can factor in the cost of a new hood and seals would still make it an attractive proposition - exhaust doesn't look SS from the pic though - we'll see what it looks like in the flesh so to speak - even digital pics make anything look good ! Chip 's car looks better but it,s a 4 hour drive from me as well as ferry

Just noticed the advert is no longer active so I can't show the link - it was shown earlier however and commented on - a calypso red series 2 M reg with 59k miles - have emailed seller who confirms it is still up for sale - as he has had a few people potentially interested ( including me ) he is holding back to see before he pays out for a new advert - I would want it up to mint condition like my old Elan so prepared to spend what it takes to do this but will have to be sure it's totally sound particularly wishbones etc

Seems a HUGE contradiction between these statements - just spend some time going to buy Chip's then... seems obvious

Thanks for comment

I should have added that as I am going to visit my son this weekend and the car is only a few miles away from him it's worth taking the time to view - also I like the cream interior and the fact that the owner has had it for 16 years - he gave me the registration which shows repetitive MOT passes with no advisories too. It may well turn out to be crap or it may be what I'm looking for - either way it's worth a look - at £8250 ono I could factor in any required work .

I would have a look at that car as a benchmark then probably head over to Wymondham and buy a fully sorted, recently serviced/MOT'd one

Viewed this car over the weekend - good solid low mileage S2 but would need new hood ,seals and cambelt changed etc - problem is I was spoiled when I found my old Elan - albeit 9 years ago it was mint in every way - and I'm sure still is in the hands of Daveiow . I would want a car as comparable or it would feel I would be going backwards
The difficulty has always been living down here it's a real PITA to have to travel long distances only to find a car that doesn't fit my exacting standards - I'm not looking for a cheap deal - happy to pay a premium if the car is truly mint .

Better look at Chipp's car then... There's 'A Grand Day Out' coming up at Imperial War Museum at Duxford on Sunday 30th April and Chipp's should be there (No 4 on the list), along with 50+ other Lotus cars, lots of other car clubs exhibiting and can visit the aircraft museums ..
iwm-duxford-spring-car-show-sunday-30th-aprilMight make the journey worthwhile...
