Lotus Elan M100 SE Turbo in Norfolk Mustard Yellow
1st Registered – 23rd October 1991
Current Mileage – 130,660 (Engine rebuilt by previous owner possibly 20,000 miles or slightly more since then)
MOT – Valid until 17th June 2018 (Only advisory was a noisy exhaust, is that really a bad thing? why would it be
)All four previous MOT’s passed with no emission issues being encountered. (If you check online and see a failure for this year this was due to me forgetting to swap the front number plate for the full size unit
spoke to the tester and he passed the car upon checking the boot for the full size plate, schoolboy error)5 Previous Owners, including Paul Watkins who was an avid LEC participant.
Purchased by me back on 5th April 2013 when the car had 114,568 miles on the clock so as you can see this car has been used regularly.
Prior to my purchasing the car the previous owner undertook a full engine rebuild during 2006/07 which was fully documented in the LEC Forum. (I have the printed copy of the posting on file).
Rebuild included the need to install oversize pistons (+0.5mm) and the block was rebored to this oversize not just honed.
Additions to the car prior to my purchasing it are as follows
Full set of Samco Silicon Hoses.
Full Stainless steel Peco Exhaust system.
Uprated Garrett Turbo fitted.
Hi Spec brake calipers (Front and rear)
Short Shift Gear change kit
Intelligent Boost Controller.
Replacement Boost, Oil Pressure and Voltmeter Gauges fitted, white dials which illuminate red when lights are on.
Rear Strut Brace.

Roll Hoops – These are structural connecting to the chassis and as such are a safety feature I believe all soft top cars should have.
Since I have owned the car the following work has been completed.
Full B & C Service completed 14,000 miles ago including Cam Belt change and new water pump.
New carpeting fitted including changing the original foam sound proofing with closed cell foam.
Seats replaced with Porsche 911 seats, the driver’s seat having electrical adjustment on the base.
All wheels were refurbished and powder coated and all now run true and have no kerbing. These are shod with Yokohama AD08 tyres all showing 4 to 5 mm of tread still in place.
Bonnet support kit to allow easier access to the engine bay.
Window rubbers replaced and whilst window mechanisms were out all components were refurbished so windows work well with no sticking or misalignment.
Remote boot release fitted. This is operated via a spare A/C switch fitted to the dash so not obvious to anyone.
Gearbox refurbished in October 2015 due to failed Selector fork on 1st and 2nd Gear. No issues since and whilst Gearbox was out of the car a whole new clutch was fitted. At the same time all ancillary belts were replaced.
Headlamp motors were overhauled Oct 2016
New Battery fitted Jan 2017
The car is fitted with a custom made Sump guard made from Aluminium sheet, this still allows access to the sump drain plug whilst protecting the underside of the car.
Also fitted is a polycarbonate wind deflector, again custom fitted to the roll hoops so looks in tune with the car.
The Hood is in good condition and has a very clear rear screen, the straps internally need replacing but I have a new set of these and can be part of the sale if required.
Paintwork is fair and doesn’t suffer from any delamination, when polished the paintwork does come up nice but as with all sports cars is suffering from stone chips. If I were to keep the car I would be considering a respray, however the car still gets a lot of positive comments when attending the various car shows around the North West.
Reason for sale, having owned the car for four years and now having another Lotus (Elan S4) in the garage it feels like we have no space and time for both (also have two Classic Mini’s but that’s another story).
Car was recently valued by an independent specialist for insurance purposes at £5,250 (Not Club Lotus) so looking for around that figure but open to offers. I appreciate this isn’t a standard M100 so isn’t for the purist amongst the group but is a fun drive and has had a lot of love and attention over the past years from myself and from Paul before me.
