What does it weigh

I need a weight for the engine, with and without gearbox, in order to get a shipping quote.

Any guidance gratefully received.

It is very, very heavy! IIRC from the last move it is about 250kg with the g'box attached. I stand to be corrected though.....

Can you negotiate a shipping price based on size? It might be a better deal and I can measure that for you in my garage on my spare. I don't have a set of 300kg scales sadly!

I do not think that weight is that much of an issue if you ship via sea freight, the price to ship by air is and would be silly money been there looked into that.
To get an idea try https://www.freight-calculator.com/ part container load is probably the bets option.

While it might not be relevant on this occasion … As a reminder, I’m associated with a 7 tonne van and trailer moving household goods between the UK and Spain on a monthly basis.

Thanks Chaps. Crated and sent 'part container' is certainly the way forward. The Shipping companies I looked at wanted weight and dimensions. 250-kg is a good guesstimate.

Candles, accurate dimensions would be very, very useful, thank you.

If you're thinking of crating it yourself - don't. Anything crated for shipping has to be done with the correctly treated timber to avoid bugs etc from being shipped with your package. Most companies cost on the volumetric size, though I'm sure the weight of the engine may influence their costings.
