I'm still in the process of zipping/organising the files from the CD to upload to my webspace. I plan on a single zip file with all contents for those who have the patience to download it all at once, as well as difference sections zipped.

To stop people from doing whats above I'm thinking that a password for accessing the files can be stored on LEC.

Rodman

I'm operating a send me a blank and an SAE and I'll fill it service now. I'm paranoid however, that these CDs don't fall into the hands of profit -seeking eBay sellers.
To that end, you plea is noticed, but I want to wait and see some give (as well as take) before fulfilling your wishes in this, your first post.
Hope you understand...

Simon

No, not at all...here's the wording of an e-mail that I sent out to two requests that I received overnight:

I am now operating a "send me a blank CDR and SAE and I'll populate it with the manuals and return it" service.
Furthermore, I need to know your Lotus Elan Central Forum membership names, so that I can monitor the fact that you actively contribute to the fraternity and are not just here to take anything you can get. Forgive me for having to ask this, but (as I'm sure you're aware) there are unscrupulous individuals out there who just want to make profit by selling similar CDs on eBay - I ask this of you, because your names don't ring any bells as regular members, and we don't ask for real names when registering with the site/forum.
Once I'm happy that you're genuine enthusiasts, I'll gladly fill a CD for you.

My address is:
Heathfields
566 Birmingham Rd
Lydiate Ash
Bromsgrove
Worcestershire B61 0HT

Regards

Simon Vickers (Sy)

...we all appreciate the input and service that you have/will be offering Simon, just send me a blank CDR and SAE mate.

I understand about the ebay bit and wholy agree. It si the curse of the Internet. But a bit confused about the other piece? Doesn't take much to confuse me!
I have tried to get my notes on the notice board but I'm not sure anything was recorded.
My car had only done 47K when I had it serviced. When I got it back I had a single noisy tappit. I discovered the garage had used flushing oil before filling up. They replaced the oil again but still I had a single noisy tappet. I had eight hydraulic adjustor changed on first and second cylinders. At that time they changed the cam belt, but it was overtightened. I had quiet tapets for about 200 miles then it came back. About a few miles later the exhauste cam split. Big money as I had to have a new head as the spilt cam scored the head. The cam sits on the head, thin layer of oil only as the barrier. Two valves also needed replacing. I still had the tappet noise even after the work. Having read that Mobile 1 is the bees knees I changed the oil. Unfortunitely I put in fully synthetic and have had the car throwing oil out to the volume of two pints in 1000 miles. Smoking all the time but the valves were quiet. Just changed the oil again to 15-50 castrol, no smoke but tappets noise back. I have descded that as long as there is oil in the engine I will stop being a worrier and just drive the car.
Any commnets would be of use on the oil? The cam breaking I have been told "is unusual", but I can't see how an overtightened belt could do the damage.
Cheers
Derek

The CD now includes the (massive) closed loop manual.
However, a few years ago I got hold of these Lotus Factory (M100 mechanics) conversion training notes which have been included in the CD for some time.
I scanned these and, whilst they're all there, they are in a format which is inconsistent with the rest of the manuals.
They appear on the CD in their own specific folder and are separate .pdf files for each page...a real arse-pain to navigate.
Does anyone have the knowledge, capability, means, desire and time to stitch these things together to make them four .pdf manuals a la the other contents of the CD please?

Who would be able to do that then? I can't think of anyone [smiley=oops.gif]

It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but it doesn't take any to sit on your arse with a blank look on your face.
