Having had a full read of the magazine, I think it really is worth having a look. There are also many other very interesting articles.

The M100 appears in two or three places and is treated, at least by this magazine, as a true modern classic car. At long last, the M100 may be just starting to get the recognition it deserves!!

True just thinking with the last show we went to with the Elan, it was amazing the attention it was getting, suppose in a very small way such as these shows are a good intro into the forgotten Elan for people to think I fancy one of those gorgeous little Lotus's

I've just read the feature on the Elan. It is somewhat superficial, I think, but is an indication that the car is very much in the modern classics category. The feature is fairly lengthy, but doesn't really reach any conclusion about how good or bad the car is, or if it is a classic at all. They have interviewed Barry Ely, a Lotus trader (who, we are informed has new premises in Malden) rather than a real owner, which is a bit poor. I suspect that most of the information for the article came from him, including the recommendation that the car benefits from being set up by a specialist. Still, Classic & Sportscar did the same thing in August's issue where they published a buyer's guide to the Esprit including an owner interview with another Lotus specialist.

The article is pretty positive about the car, but has some reservations about its character. Worth reading if you can still get a copy.

I personally haven't read a copy of this particular revue but the feature in Classic&Sports Car, best sports car for under £10 k was glowing in its praise of our Elans.
Views on its "value" as a classic are so subjective as to be worthless in my opinion.
I am old enough (sadly) to remember when nearly all now revered classics (and I include E type's,Mk2 Jags,Astons and even some Ferrari's) were considered to be rusty unreliable junk. I don't want to get started on £45k Escort Mexico's and Mk1 Lotus Cortina's (well perhaps an ex J Clark one)
The pleasure I have experienced ,the admiring glances,people actually taking photo's of the car all convince me that its "time" will come

Yes, I thought that part was a little strange. It wasn't really part of the main article, being in a box insert and it certainly didn't seem to add anything of any real value!

Barry has been around for years and has moved to Maldon last year after being in east London for 20+ years iirc. He services and sells all lotuses so was there for a plug maybe

Just a little point from years and years ago, our old friend Colin Chapman was asked what the plural of Lotus was and he replied Lotus. So I suppose if you have a gathering of more than 1 Lotus, you have Lotus and no Lotuses!!!
