Having obtained a username and password, I have tried to down load the manuals with no success.
I have entered the username and password numerous times as requested, but then I get "Error 401" which means nothing to me.
Can anyone enlighten me to what error 401 is, and how do I resolve it?
Keep it simple for an old man!

I have no record of having sent you a login and password - I've checked all aplicants since you joined on 7th June.
You know that you have to register separately for download, don't you?
You're download password is not the same as your forum registration password.
There - simple?

I went through the registration process, and received an e-mail back on the 19th June @ 17.52hrs.
This gave me a username and a password.
If you want, I can send these to you on a PM to check?
I tried on two seperate occasions to download the manuals and both times received the Error 401 message!

My apologies - I was experimenting with a new e-mail client at that time.
Looks like sent items haven't transferred across between the two (now I've reverted to outlook).
You have PM - please note the top line.

Yes, I can help, but I need to access my e-mail when I get home this evening. It's not automated, but if your application is there you will get a separate user name and password for the download area.

I'm sorry, I haven't received your application to download the manuals.
Please register again and, if this doesn't work PM me your address and I will add it to the database and issue a password manually.

Overnight, LEC member "slim" was the 500th person to seek access to the Manuals - they're rather popular aren't they!

I've got the manuals as scanned pdfs. Are they available in any format that is searchable? When these parts sales come out, it's always very time-consuming to try to find the parts in the exploded diagrams to find out what they are when you can't search for a part number. Has anyone tried OCR on them at least?

Yes. I had a go a few months ago using the OCR facility in Acrobat. Unfortunately, it didn't work very well.
If I remember correctly the main problem was that the OCR picked up some of the part number "zeros" as the letter O and some correctly as zero. This would have meant many happy hours (days !!) of editing to correct. There were also other problems with the descriptions as well. Overall, I didn't think it was worth it.

Same issue here. I asked for a manuals password last week but no response so far.
I just bought a car that needs some fixing up and I'm dying to have a look at the manuals.
Can anyone help?

Hi Specky,
I also seem to be in the same boat, having requested access a couple times in the past couple weeks. Could you have a word with the man that can for me too? I'm dying to delve into the parts of my car, but need to do a bit of reading up first!
Cheers,
Alan

Hi all,
I've got next week booked off work to start on the Elan, got the PROM switcher on order, wheels to paint, seats to be recovered, numerous other bits to do etc, but still no access to any manuals. Can a moderator please give me access? Pretty please? Bells on???
