LEC mugs...whatever next!

Postby Enright » Fri 02.02.2007, 09:35

I've just been chatting with Paul Watkins, and he asked what I thought about the idea of LEC mugs.

My answer was that I thought it was an inspired idea.

Now that we already have a couple of updated logo designs bringing together the site graphic, car silhouette and fastcat, we just need the mugs printing.

It may be possible to get them for between £1.50 and £2.00 each (which I'm gobsmacked at).

So: what does everyone else reckon? Mug colours? Do you think having 200 at the stand would be feasible? Does anyone have any contacts or could people shop around?

OMG that sounds awful!

My vision was of a black or white mug with the cat logo, or with the green/yellow Elan silhouette wrapping round.

But blue, red, yellow and green mugs would look OK too.

I am going to be getting a price for the folowing type of mug, of dimensions:
330ml capacity.
90mmHx80mmD.

I am getting prices for white and black mugs with the circular cat logo, and white and black mugs with the rectangular logos. Nothing else at the moment! I will get costs for 100 and 200 quantities (at the moment) (25 and 50 of each colour/logo combo)

It will be first come first served on what type you want.

An example of which looks like this:

Just a quick sample... with the cat.. and I added Donington onto it, as an alternative text (in case someone would suggest some text)

Gents

Part of our deal (FOR THE STALL) with CL was that we would not be selling from it.
These would have to be a car boot sale.

Would it still be considered as a 'sale' if we were paying 'subscriptions', which included a 'free' mug?

Having (along with others) nurtured an excellent working relationship with the CL girls over the years, I wouldn't want to insult their intelligence by trying it on, if you don't mind, Dave.

If you do plan on selling these over the weekend (from stand or otherwise) just remember that 200 mugs will take up a lot more transportation room than 200 stickers.

As long as someone sorts out the logistics, transport and pitch, I don't mind spending half an hour taking people's money.

Also, although all of these fundraising ideas are good, has anyone thought about how full the kitty might get and where that would go? IIRC there was a surplus in the kitty just from the donations last year. Maybe as the purpose of the stand is to raise the profile of LEC it may be worth setting a target for the kitty and reviewing prices/profit accordingly.

CL may also take a more favourable view of having a few items for sale on the stall if we demonstrate that it's more or less cost covering, rather than profit making.

Just my 2p!

...and on that note.

I want a volunteer to run/hold the kitty.

If this does take off, I would envisage most of the order of mugs going before we even got into Donington!

The quantity may be down to just 20 or 30 to put on the stall to help with the 'covering costs' fund.

Fair comment, It's just my nature to try and get away with things I've been told I can't do

Thats okay, Sy, the much-maligned (and NOT repealed by PACE) Bristol Encroachment Act of 1872 still makes it an offence to do that!

Under Section 33, sub-section 14, you can arrest someone for 'runnig on the footpath', beating a carpet on a Sunday, offering a carriage for sale on the highway and numerous other things that 99% of people do!!!

(but you can still drive your sheep and goats along the street at any time of day or night, as long as there are no more than 12 of them!)

The Bristol half-marathon uses up loads of ink in my pen

I would be interested also. I picked up an Elan/Club Lotus one last year, but it was china, I want a mans mug that can take a bit of clunking around.

But heed what Sy is saying, we can not sell these or anything else from the stand. Display them and have a donations Tin by all means, but direct people to the car park to make purchases.
