Front Brakes... A Modern Option (SOLD)

Postby Jamie N » Wed 13.09.2023, 13:45

I have these on my S2 and have 2 spare sets if anyone fancies an upgrade without spending a fortune. These are fairly recent Bosch calipers and perform
excellent, the difference when I fitted them to my Elan was profound, far sharper than the originals that I removed from it. A lot easier to service as well,
no more driving out stuck pins from the pads and very simple to remove the sliders, there is also more pad in contact with the disc than the originals, they also fit under 15s.

Comes with everything to fit, pads and flexi hoses and bolt on with the original Elan carrier bolts. No modifications required, you simply bolt them on, change the flexi hose,
bleed the brakes and that's it job done.

160 plus postage, or come to Fife and I'll fit them for you.

Fit the caliper, this picture shows how simple it is to change the pads, remove one 13mm bolt, pull out the caliper just enough to create a gap between the old pad and the piston
into which you put a flat blade and lever back the piston, swing the caliper up and remove the pads, it just doesn't get any easier than that.

Hi Jamie

I’m up for a set of those for my se turbo ,they sound a good equivalent to some of the other outrageously priced alternatives

if you travel to fife, you may as well get a set of seals and rear calipers from Jamie

by the time you finish your shopping list you'll have a 4 figure sum

but you gotta be mindfull this is fitted on a S2. with the 16 wheels instead of your SE's 15

I already have rear brake upgrade from Jamie (they work a treat) so I expect front upgrade will also be good ,,even if you put both costs together they are a fraction of the PNM or Willwoods for either set ,,as for the roof seals ,I received a set of A post seals (rubber) when I purchased the car ,simply can’t afford Jamie’s seals at the moment ,but not a priority ,concentrating on engine/gearbox and brakes this year maybe next year ,didn’t expect being a lotus owner to come cheap ,but I’m happy upto now

Those of us in the colonies are awaiting the creation of a wiki post with the steps to recreate your "over the counter" rear brake upgrade :-D

Sorry,
Delete that message, I thought they were rear brakes. I have Wilwoods fitted on the front.
