Agree, very sad
Had an amazing lunch with him in the New Forest and got him to sign his autobiography.
Met him several times at Williams F1 hospitality when he entertained my guests.

His most famous credit was the person who created the Groundhogs advert for the tyre company he worked for in Birmingham.

RIP a true gent.

Murray and James a combination that made F1 even more interesting and entertaining. I remember watching and waiting for his weekly pronouncements was a national pastime. You don't appreciate what you had until it's gone and F1 became a lot duller without him.
His depth of knowledge was fantastic and it wasn't just F1, he could give equally informed comentry for bikes or saloon cars.

So good you can still hear his voice!

I read this again last summer

What an interesting read too, such a special chap who led a long and full life.

Very true. A bit like Bill McLaren, the famous rugby commentator. Very distinctive voices, a wealth of knowledge and very amusing anecdotes

I bumped into him at Silverstone GP 1983 as a starry eyed teen, we were outside the Lotus garage well into the Saturday evening as the mechanics were trying to fix car for the race. Think it was Elios. He had time for all the fans despite being there with his “reporters cap” on .
