Code 15 -replaced CTS

Postby andrewrenouf » Wed 09.07.2008, 18:50

Hello again

I had an error code 15 and had the classic "run for a mile" or so before stalling and not restarting. I could smell the excess fuel so it all fitted in. When totally cold the car would run again for eactly a mile before breaking down (ie when warm).

It took me 3 months to get around to doing something about it and after advice from this forum replaced the CTS

When I replaced the CTS, the car ran for longer than a mile (without breaking down) so vast improvement! But it is very rough and is running on 3 cylinders. Sometimes it runs on all 4 for a few seconds Booting the accelerator did not help.

I assumed that the car had been left on the drive for 6 months, the spark plugs were rusty (or something) so I replaced the plugs today.

After a spark plug change (another 4 weeks later after the CTS test drive) even worse roughness with a long clattering of the waste gate (I assume that's what makes the clattering noise) but I've never heard it clatter so much or so long - about 2-3 seconds of clatter and with wheezes of air.

I then shorted out the pins on the diagnostic socket and got erro code 15 again (that's the CTS!!)

I'm stuck now I will probably buy an elanscan thingy but any ideas from the above?

Thanks for much for any help - It's almost summer and I'm motivated to fix the car now!!
