renewing airco pump?

I've noticed leaking of a greenish fluorecent liquid from the right hand front side and I was told that is the aico pump giving me problems.

Because the cam belt needs to be replaced I guess it is the right moment to fix or renew that pump as well.

Does anyone know if there is a second hand unit around somewhere or if there is reasonable priced alternative in the aftermarket or if maybe a certain GM unit would fit as well?

Are you sure it is the A/C? does it still get cold?

I had the same issue - thought it was the a/c compressor - it was a fatigue crack in the PAS union the oil runs down and drips off the A/C compressor.

The airco still works without any problems so far......

I do not fully understand what tou mean by the 'PAS union and oil drips'.
Can you crearfy that a bit for me as a not native english speaking person?
Can that cause the green fluorecent leak?

What is the liquid?
Water or oil

If it is oil I would tend to suspect the power steering pipes, if it is water the more likley then you have a cooling leak.
If it was leakage from the Aircon then you would probably lose the gas as well and the system would not work.
What colour is your anti freeze? as some are a fluorecent green.
One option if it is a water leak is to taste it, not pleasant but if it is sweet then it is coolant.

Just checked it again.

It's yellow/green fluorecent liquid. No special smell. I am not tempted to taste it, looks like poison to me
Certainly is not as greasy like oil is and my coolant has a totally different color.
Airco still operates well allthough the leaking is there for many months now.

Michael, check out my PAS problem thread for more information and pictures, although my Power Assisted Steering (PAS) fluid was red. Worth checking what colour yours is.

Try collecting some and drop it into water - if it floats, it is oil based (like PAS fluid).

My confusion is starting to grow further.
I just checked my PAS fluid which is a red-brown greasy stuff not at all like the bright yellow-green fluorecent stuff that has been leaking bit by bit for months now.
And eveything still operates well.

If the water is not green then that rules that one out.
If the power steering is red/brown that rules that one out.

The only thing left that I can think of is that they sometimes put a fluorescent dye in to the aircon system to check for leaks with a black light, it could be this is what you are seeing.
If it this is the case I would get the system checked over as it may not be terminal for the compressor yet but if allowed to continue could be.
Can you see where it is leaking from? I suppose if it was the dye and you had a black light it would be easy to spot where it was leaking.
