Which thermostat for S2 confused

Hello
I want to buy the correct thermostat for a 1996 S2 Elan
Reading the forums , various options are recommended including temperatures , part numbers etc
Yes I can buy the original with Jiggle pin from SJ at around £20+vat +gasket
What is the correct temp for UK to get system correctly working, with Jiggle pin, and do you have a part number or supplier if a cheaper alternative is available from motor factors.
The forum on this subject has left me confused , may be its my age!

Hi

I have just replaced an original "lotus" thermostat which would not open after just 18 months use. Not experience this with any car but guess these Stats could be NOS amf maybe the wax has deteriorated with age. I have now fitted Phil's astra one £6 quid on ebay see this thread viewtopic.php?f=134&t=24910&p=314079&hilit=stat#p314079 and the car is running a bit warmer just a tad over a 1/4 on the gauge and is quick to warm up. I sat in traffic into and out of Goodwood FOS last Friday on a warm day for over an hour both ways with the fans cycling without any problems so happy so far with the choice.
