Heater temp control knob

Postby jcfx11 » Thu 18.12.2025, 15:38

Hi,

Having trouble with heater control knob. It will go all the way round to full hot but won't go all the way round to cold. When you turn the knob to cold there is definite resistance as it approaches the 12 o'clock position. However even when on full hot the heater is never any better than lukewarm, the vacuum system seems to be working as I can select the various outlets.

I have made a start on taking off the fascia to check if the control rod is connected, which it is. I can't see where the other end of the control rod attaches ... wondering if it has been blocked from a full range of movement by something. Can anyone point me to a decent diagram or photo showing how things all connect up, tried the service manual but the diagrams of the heater box and the temp control don't connect up very well.

Is the length of the heater control rod adjustable ?

Thanks

John

Aha, found I could look through the hole when the glovebox is out, found the linkage, might have been a bit stiff but is now working over the full travel and hits the microswitch. Now to replace the heater valve, reassemble the linkage and test ...
