Not much chance of that, very rare this kicks in. As long as u don`t turn the engine off when the fans kick in.

Very rare? Hmmm, maybe I just cane mine everywhere...or me thermo is knackered, but she runs at normal temp...and she only goes out in summer...

If you leave the ignition on after a run and parking up, just watch that temp needle rise. I like to pop the bonnet after I've taken her out as well to help her cool down, thats when you can hear her pumping away :wink:

mine is as Monty describes. I've never had the pump working unless I earth it on purpose to test it.

Either you drive considerably more enthusiastically than me (entirely possible), or it may be that one of your fans is not working. Have a check by switching on the ignition, then earthing the thermostat wire under the bonnet and having a look (carefully) to see that both fans are spinning.

Good thinking John, but both fans perform. I have noticed though its considerably easier to keep the temp down when the ambient temp is low, but as I say shes a fair weather girl, so maybe this is why the pump gets used so much. And I do rag her rotten.
On the subject of driving enthusiastically, does anyone else with 17's find the fronts foul the wheel arch liners? I haven't seen anyone else report this problem, so I'm wondering if its me driving like a loon...
