A good pump

Can anyone tell me what the pump is at the front of the engine bay? It's leaking coolant slightly and I need to replace it with a good one.

It's the water recirculation pump (A100K6018F), it ensures longevity to your blowing performance. I'm sure someone can muster a good one for you!

Depends on a number of things.

Is it the pump that's leeking and not one of the connecting hoses?
How much water's escaping?
Your chances of finding one at Donington are slim (at a guess).
I've got a spare one of unknown performance/serviceability.

Sorry to jump in but what pump is this? I mean whats its main purpose and where is it positioned?

Just nice to get a little extra info about things that leak?

I tightened the hoses but will check the quality of them properly before buying a pump.

I only get coolant on my fingers from the pumparea not around the hoses so I think on first guesses it's the pump.

PaulN - The pump is situated right at the front of the engine bay just slightly to the right. That's about as far as my technical abilities go! :-D

Immediately adjacent to your bonnet prop receptor.

I believe different cars have different locations and set ups for these...

Agreed, the set up of the receptor has changed, but the position, just inboard of the passenger side (UK) light pod, I think has remained constant.

He says, opening himself up for a volley of pictures to the contrary!

Thanks, a rather old picture though I'm afraid.

Since then the head's been polished Brian's oil cap added and the rats have eaten most of the hoses.

It's okay to remove the pump and bypass it if you'd like so it doen't leak. Not sure if it's really all that useful unless you turn off the car right after a hard run. It's good insurance to have though and can always be replaced with another later.

Each to their own. Personally, I'd rather dip my nads in acid than do that. No need to ruin a good engine by overheating it.
