Where's best to buy these parts ????

Hi Guys ,
after a coolant hose splitting on me last Thursday i have decided to do a complete overhaul of the coolant system .

So far i have ordered a full Samco silicone coolant / turbo / ancilleries and induction hose kit and thermostat

plus also would like to replace the following

Thermostat housing (as its all corroded)
coolant temp switch
temperature gauge switch
header tank

Plus anything else that anyone recommends doing whilst doing all this ????

Does anyone know where i can source the above parts from / part numbers etc ?

The SAMCO coolant set is very very good and most on here would recommend it. However there have been problems with their induction hoses delaminating and getting sucked into the engine and turbo. Not good!!! and I am not sure if this has been resolved. I would therefore suggest you use standard induction hoses unless someone can confirm SAMCO have solved it.

Some replacement header tanks have a habit of splitting in 2 under pressure along the seam, so beware of ebay offers for this part.

Being relatively close to you, I would also suggest you use Paul Matty as a local source of info and parts as well as those suggested above.

I can recommend these guys for your header tank.
A bit more expensive than the OEM plastic version (which are basically impossible to find), however their product is a "oncer" .... once it's done, you'll never need to do it again.

Thermostat housing are no longer available and most secondhand ones show signs of corrosion. My was not too far gone, so clean it up and repaired with Platsic Padding Chemical metal, to good effect.

All above advice is good!

To summarise:-

Get Samco coolant hoses, but not induction ones
Remove/clean/repair (if necessary) thermostat housing
Header tank from Steve at Coolexperts

CTS - there are aftermarket parts which cost a lot less than the Lotus ones.

But all parts should be easily obtainable.

get the Esprit part .......its exactly the same but 1/4 of the price......

There's a metal joining pipe between two of the hoses that will probably be corroded which should be replaced and the heater valve is also a weak spot so I would change that as well. (There is a plastic one for a Volvo that fits)

In speaking with Samco I can confirm that they said they have redesigned the induction hoses and so far had zero failiures
