Rubber Smell

Postby PaulN » Fri 12.01.2007, 11:11

Hi All,

Not a problem as such but just wanted to ask a little advice.

Haven't used the Elan for a few weeks and this week ive noticed on my short journeys to work when i stop and allow the engine to tick over for a minute before turning the engine off i get a very slight rubber smell coming from i think the drivers heater vent.

Im very aware of any smells or new sounds when in cars so i thought i would just ask in case anyone had some thoughts.

Im going to give the car a blast along a dual carriage way for 20 Minutes later as i dont think short drives with a fair bit of traffic help.

Cheers

I had exactly the same thing a few weeks ago, it went away after a week or so and the car has been serviced since with no report of any problem. I put it down to something getting cooked in the heater.

Regards,

Phil

Hi,

Gave it a bit of a blast that afternoon and all was fine when i got home. It just weird, maybe the lay off over christmas caused it.

Will keep my eye on it....

Cheers
