Thank you for some of the kind comments (and the sarcastic ones too!) Don't worry about being polite or keeping your language clean, remember I'm married to Dico (nuff said!)
I was recently thinking about Easter last year when Dico advised me that he would be spending 'a few hours' on taking his engine out of the Elan, four days later he and Monty were still at it. Needless to say I wasn't overly impressed that my whole Easter break from work had been spent making cups of tea and bacon butties!
So, I informed Dico that we were invited to a party on easter Saturday (albeit a children's party) after a bit of negotiation (in other words complete refusal to come!) I agreed that he could stay at home to work on his brakes. What's the betting he's still at it by Easter Monday?
Anyway, he's recently informed me that he's interested in doing a track day somewhere in Bedford. Personally I don't see the point of spending mega money and time on doing the Elan up and then risking smashing it to bits on a track....... but what do I know.........!
As for driving the Elan, not long after he got it I had to drive it one Saturday morning as he was hungover...... god, an experience I NEVER want to repeat, you ca imagine:
Dico: "watch your speed, be careful pulling out, WATCH THAT CAR,"
Mrs Dico: "Right, that's it, I'm stopping and you can &*%$£&^ drive it yourself".
Needless to say I didn't drive it on the return journey.
He keeps trying to persuade me to buy an Elan myself, now why would I do that..... I get a new Company car every 6/7 months and get my fuel paid for...... and if I had the money I'd rather have a new kitchen...!!

Surprised you got to drive his car really - I didn't think it was ever on the road
Think about it though if you get one too you can all go the the events as a family like we do and I'm sure my wife loves it

I know what its like to have a wife and a Lotus
Not enough time for both - until i came up with the brainwave of letting Angie believe that the car was hers!
I still get to buy the tax and petrol and insurance, but with her name on the V5 and the odd use of the car when its working, i can spend time tinkering to improve it without getting nagged at!
If i spend time working on the Triumph i get grief - but if it's on 'her' car, i get smiles!!!!

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it
