wow. that looks lovely. what was the cost of the respray? thinking of getting mine done.

Total cost of the respray was £1400, and it`s an excellent finish (the photo`s dont do it justice).the respray was done by mackenzies automotive in newport (very friendly and they dont mind you turning up to have a look at the progress),i would definately use them again.
i had the wheels powder coated and they came up really nice (done at the wheel specialists).

They did all the work,(i took the window glass seals off because of their condition and put new ones on once it had been painted) and i took the wheels off to get them powder coated.
Paint is basecoat and lacquer (can find out what was used if anyone wants to know).
I let them have the car for about six weeks ( had the engine out of my excel and needed the extra room in the garage, so i was`nt in any rush to have it back ) but they would have completed it quicker if required .
Will be at malvern on sunday if anyone wants a look.

I have had quotes of £3000 to £4500 ... and no serious preparation is really required, just being fussy with the stone chips!

Well, in response to the above request, i have to say that i was impressed with the results i saw.

There were a couple of slight imperfections, but i couldn't see them until Brian pointed them out, and, to be honest, they were so minor that they didn't detract from the overall effect - the actual pint coat is beaytifully smooth, and the clearcoat gives a great shine, and a good reflective image - no sign of orange peel.

Brian went through the process used by the garage, and i have to say, they seem to have done an excellent job for the money.

As with everything, only really time will tell how long it stays good for, but you can say the same of any paint job - after all, if Lotus can only get 17 years out of a paint job, why should we expect more!

Suffice to say, that i will be contacting the garage fairly soon, with a view to getting mine done over next winter...........

Don't forget to cover the new paint with the armour guard plastic (??) before you get the dreaded stone chips. I saw a few cars at Malvern with this on and you'd hardly notice. I'd say it was well worth the extra expense if you wanted to preserve good paintwork.

I'll back up what Mr Pinky has said, i was parked next to it on Sunday and had a good look, it really does look as good as the photo.
Excellent job especially for that money!!!
