Not sure that you are correct there Shaun.
I was assigned the original no when I re-registered Custard. If I wanted different I was told I had to pay for the priviledge, as it was still available. Granted the car had been on a foreign plate at the time, but it was on a private plate at some stage prior to that.

I agree with Dave.
When I bought mine, DVLA put the original number plate back on when the owner took his personal plate off.

I've had quite a few friends who have returned to there oridginal plates, only to find they could not have them.
DVLA have the right to reissue a plate or even with hold it, It used to be pretty hit and miss
Don't forget several agencys use DVLA plates to hide the owners and cars identity.. this still means you get that speeding ticket.

Oh well, I guess the person I talked too in the Norwich DVLA Office was wrong (no surprise there!). When I bought my my new plate, they said that I'd have to pay an annual retention fee if I wanted the old plate to go back on in the future. My other choices where to sell it on or it was "deleted" from the system "never to be re-issued again". They said that if I transfered my pricate plate to another car, they would automatically assign a new plate to the car...yeah right, like I'm going to sell the car ever!!!!!

For the second time in the 20 years I've lived in Mississippi, there's actual snow on the ground. The first time, there was about 4 inches, and it stuck around for a few days. This time it's about 1 inch, and it'll pretty much all be gone within about 12 hours of arriving.

Top-down weather - we has it!

It hasn't even so much as been overcast in the last few weeks. Temps between 0°~7° daily. Sun is out, roof goes down. That's the rule. This rocks.
