I thought it was about time I posted my new addition to the family. I collected it just after our Elan was sold but with all the problems with the Elan I thought I would hold posting.
I had 3 cars in mind to replace the Elan, which i think shows how good the Elan still is in this market:
1) Merc SLK 2) Lotus Elise 3) Bmw Z4. The SLK was out of my price range, I fancied the Elise but with no decent Indy closer than Mattys I wasn't sure. I have always liked the Z4, i think it has stunning looks and pretty well made. So when one came up at the right price i wnet for it.
Its pretty Basic but i thought i could upgrade as and when i wanted:
Z4 2.0i SE Jet Black
17" Turbine-Spoke Style
Hi-Fi Sys Prof DSP
Im Looking to Re-trim the Standard Cloth seats in the next few months and other suggestions welcome. I know the 2.0l isn't super car performance but Ive found using Shell Optimax makes a huge difference.
Rolling report so far:
I really like it, Its well built looks very retro inside runs very well. Im stunned at some of the little things like on a hill the brakes stay on for 3 seconds to reduce rolling back. Also the roof can be lowered by using the key fob.
The bad things are its solid Black so it can mark too easily, I find i have to take too much care when cleaning which can be a drag. Also theres a valve which reduces the amount of fluid to the clutch so no fool can stall but it can make the car kangaroo under heavy acceleration.
Do I prefer it to the Elan? Somedays Yes somedays No, I will say i still miss the Elan though.
Cheers
