I also see Canadian flags for some reasons. Optical illusion...

I'm insanely jealous, you know Ekkers, that you live near LGM and have come into her good graces. I'm coming up on 6.5 years (but less than 10K mi) on the same timing belt and am a nervous nellie trying to find someone to replace it.

It's also a great reference shot of the oil pressure idiot light sender and the oil pressure gauge sender. Not impossible to get to with the engine in situ but deffo not the easiest.
Timing belt is easy on this car. The big thing is to ensure that they don't skip a tooth as ekapol and I found the previous mechanics did. Also only use an OEM water pump. Have had a couple aftermarket go bad on my and it wasn't pretty.

I don't supposed you're headed to San Diego any time soon. Maybe a timing belt followed by a short vacation in a classic mid-century modern villa with pool, a short walk to the beach?

Sadly I'm not down there anytime in Dec. It is a very tempting offer, though. Do you have a space to do it? You will need some things that I would not be able to bring. Either an electric impact gun rated for a minimum of 180ft/lbs of torque or an air compressor and tank, a hydraulic jack and jack stands and a suitable spot to do the do for a few hours. The other obvious bits too. Coolant, brakleen, red shop rags (Ekapol found out why they need to me red when we rebuilt his motor).

Whoa! Even the very thought of a future possibility is the best offer I've had all month. Maybe in many months! I don't think there's a huge rush, Marie, since Smaug only gets about 1500 mi/year. I have an air compressor/tank good to 120PSI, enclosed garage, hydraulic floor jack + 4 jack stands and can arrange for just about anything else that's necessary. Maybe we should continue this discussion offline instead of hijacking Ekker's most exquisite photo thread.
